Our beautifully maintained 18-hole course was designed by legendary Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton. The parkland course offers golfers a tantalizing challenge with a range of Par 3 to Par 5 holes. With golf buggy hire available, a practice putting green, 13-bay driving range and a charming clubhouse, Windmill Hill Golf Centre provides the backdrop for a golf day to remember.

Hole 1

Par 5

A demanding long Par 5 where position from the tee is crucial. Prioritise accuracy over distance with a controlled driver or strong 3-wood, aiming for the centre of the fairway. Finding the short grass is key to setting up the hole, as a miss off the tee will likely require a more cautious approach.

Hole 2

Par 4

A gentle dogleg left to an elevated green. Fir trees right; cross-ditch through landing area. Best line is a controlled draw starting at right-centre fairway. Avoid right trees (blocked approach) and left edge where the ditch comes into play. Right-centre tee shot leaves the best angle to the green.

Hole 3

Par 3

A true test of precision! A large green sits tantalisingly beyond a fairway bunker, with additional sand traps guarding either flank. Trees hem in the fairway from the tee, demanding a perfectly straight shot.

Hole 4

Par 5 | Ladies Par 4

A wide fairway gives room off the tee, but a ditch across the landing zone forces an early choice: carry it for a shorter approach or lay up safely. The green slopes left to right, so aim left to let the contour guide the ball; shots drifting right risk running off and a tricky recovery. Placement outweighs distance here.

Hole 5

Par 4

A narrow tree-lined fairway demands a precise tee shot, while a full-width ditch tempts longer hitters. Beyond, a raised green tilts left and is flanked by bunkers, requiring a perfectly judged approach. This par 4 is a true test of accuracy and nerve.

Hole 6

Par 4

Accuracy is more important than distance. Aim for the center-left of the fairway to avoid trouble. Ditches flank and cross the fairway, which can catch an offline or overly aggressive drive. The green is tightly guarded by front and side bunkers, leaving little room for error.

Hole 7

Par 3

A long, demanding par 3 requiring both distance and accuracy. Aim left to the centre of the sloping green; shots short or right risk hitting the guarding bunkers.

Hole 8

Par 4

Aim for precision on this tight hole. Hit a straight drive to stay between the trees and avoid left-side out-of-bounds. Target the centre of the raised green, steering clear of front-left and front-right bunkers. Accuracy beats distance here.

Hole 9

Par 5

A classic par 5 that rewards smart play. Longer hitters may try to reach the green in two, but the approach is well-guarded. Most players will find success with a three-shot strategy: tee it well, lay up safely, then attack the pin with a wedge for a birdie chance.

Hole 10

Par 4

This demanding par 4 rewards accuracy off the tee, as trees line both sides of the fairway. The raised green is well-protected—a large bunker guards the left, while missing right leaves a tricky recovery. A precise drive and approach are essential.

Hole 11

Par 4

A good drive to the right of the generous fairway opens the green. Beware of the ditch running across the fairway just before the green. Well placed bunkers around the green will punish any wayward shots.

Hole 12

Par 3

This hole appears shorter than it actually is - club selection is key. Bunkers on both left and right sides make accuracy off the tee important. A raised green with a bunker on the left - misjudging your approach could leave a tough chip shot.

Hole 13

Par 4

A shorter par 4 so priority from the tee is a solid, straight tee shot to leave a short iron or wedge approach to a fairly open green. There is more room on the left side, so missing slightly left is safer than missing right.

Hole 14

Par 4

The tee shot here needs to be a controlled driver or 3-wood to the left-centre of the fairway leaving a short iron or wedge, letting the right to left contour help the ball toward the pin. Safer to miss slightly left rather than right because of the slope. Beware of the deep bunkers either side of the green.

Hole 15

Par 3

This s a mid-length par-3 where accuracy is more important than power.
The green is protected by bunkers, so missing left or right can easily leave a tricky up-and-down.  the recommended strategy is to aim for the middle of the green, leaving an uphill putt rather than risking the sand.

Hole 16

Par 4

Arguably the toughest par 4 on the course requiring two quality strikes. A long, straight drive sets up a demanding approach with a mid-to-long iron. Walk off with bogey and you’ve done just fine.

Hole 17

Par 5 | Ladies Par 4

This hole is considered reachable in two for longer hitters, but beware, two full width ditches across the fairway can spoil a good card. Out of bounds left and trees to the right require a straight drive to a receptive green.

Hole 18

Par 5

A strong finishing hole back towards the clubhouse that rewards accuracy over pure power. The ideal line off the tee is just right of centre staying clear of trouble and setting up a smoother approach to the green.
